Hi, I’m Julie (she, her)!
I am dedicated to supporting people who are exploring life beyond rigid belief systems, healing from religious harm, and creating identities grounded in their own values rather than external expectations. I believe each person can discover pleasure and joy regardless of their past.
I am passionate about helping people reconnect with pleasure, sexuality, and their relationship with their bodies. I offer a compassionate, affirming space where questions are celebrated. Many of us were taught that desire, curiosity, or certain aspects of our identity were something to suppress or be ashamed of. Together we can challenge these inherited messages and cultivate greater self-trust, freedom, and authenticity. Hopefully with a bit of levity along the way.
I have many years of experience in the mental health and community support areas, so this work is not new to me!
As part of Mareel’s internship program, I offer very low cost, and in some cases even free, therapy.

I have worked in the mental health and community support field for many years. By doing a masters degree and internship, I will be able to embrace new types of work that I am passionate about.
-
I believe healing involves more than reducing pain and distress–it is also about rediscovering joy, humour, pleasure, and a deeper connection to the present.
It is a privilege to walk alongside people as they reclaim their voices, honor their experiences, and build lives that feel authentically theirs.
I would love to work with you to help you reconnect, or connect for the first time with pleasure.
-
I work with adolescents, individuals and couples. I am also passionate about offering parenting support. After all, it is hard to focus on pleasure when you are an exhausted parent!
-
I have personally navigated the challenges of growing up within a restrictive religious environment. I understand how difficult it is to begin to question those beliefs.
Religious deconstruction can bring grief, confusion, fear, relief, liberation, and uncertainty– all at the same time.
Many people emerge from restrictive religious environments carrying shame and confusion about their bodies, desires, relationships, and sexual identities.
-
When I am not working I love cooking, gardening, and playing outside with my family!
-
I am warm, curious and always affirming of your authentic self. I have a great deal of experience in working with all types of trauma, so nothing you bring to therapy will ever be too much.
